About

It seems as if everyone is in a hurry nowadays, and I’m no exception. When things get too hectic, it’s always nice to do something else–to take a break. And that’s my reason for starting this blog.

Taking a Break is my blog about taking a break from life–through books, movies, theater plays or television shows. It’s my way of making sure that amidst all the deadlines and rushed jobs, I have to read a book or watch a movie or do something for leisure that I could write about in this blog. Notice that I say “write about” and not review. I generally don’t write reviews because that would mean I’d have to be objective. But as a reader, a viewer or a listener you can never really be objective, can you? Especially when you’re like me, and you’re doing this to take time off from a busy schedule. You invest time. You get affected.

So I don’t write reviews. I write reactions: as a reader, as a viewer, as a listener–as the intended audience. And I try to post at least thrice a week. ‘Try’ being the operative word.

Occasionally, I will also post interviews and press releases.

  1. Hi Jason, Nice meeting you during the Filipino Book Bloggers’ meet-up last Saturday at Shang. I love books, movies and musical productions, including travelling – the reason why Im always away from home!

    • Hi Rey! It was nice meeting you too! I also like musical productions–if by musical productions you mean musical theater? 🙂 I’d love to travel a lot too, if I had the financial means. Haha. 🙂

Maybe you can join us again during the next meet-up! 🙂

  2. Hi, I was able to read your comment in my blog. Mang Jose comics was actually a preview one. Nonetheless, it looks kinda cool. Will have it posted later! Thanks for visiting!
